The Fall of R’Thea
The Fall of R’Thea
The fall of R’Thea is a location-based storytelling experience, touching on the themes of Artificial Intelligence, replicated humans and the value of artificial lives. The experience is told through multiple mediums, and the story needs to be carefully pieced together by the audience.
The story is introduced to the audience through a comic book that provides both the world building and the call to action. The audience members, who assume the role of a team of experts, are asked to enter the research labs and hack an Artificial Intelligence system in order to gain access to R’Thea, a simulated world used by the AI system to conduct its experiment. Hints on how to achieve this are provided by the diary of one of the scientists, a replicated human, who seems to have raised an alarm about foul play..
The experience lasts for 1 hour and 3 people are required to work together in order to decipher the mysteries of the city.
The idea for this project was conceived by a group of 3rd and 4th year students from the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts in the context of the module MGA498: Project Based Teamwork Practices.
The project was then developed during the summer/spring of 2022 by MADLab.
